Temporary location for Southern Wake Campus bookstore

The bookstore on Southern Wake Campus has moved to Building T for several months as its regular location undergoes renovations.

Signs are posted throughout the campus to help student find the temporary location and outside Building T to point out parking and the store entrance.

The Building K renovations are scheduled to take about four months to complete, and the bookstore is expected to return there in July.

Each Wake Tech campus has a bookstore operated by Barnes & Noble College that provides the books, electronics, supplies and other materials students need for any course. Students can also pick up Wake Tech shirts, sweats and other apparel, along with swag for their homes and cars, at the bookstores.

Eagle Advantage is Wake Tech's textbook savings program for students in degree programs, including dual-enrollment students in the Career & College Promise program. The program ensures all required printed and digital textbooks are bundled and ready for pickup or delivery on or before the first day of class – saving you time and money and ensuring you're ready to learn on Day One.

Simply follow these steps to participate in Eagle Advantage:

  1. Apply to Wake Tech
  2. Register for classes
    Upon registering, you are automatically enrolled in Eagle Advantage. Once you've selected your courses, the bookstore will start preparing your order.
  3. Verify your order.
    Starting 30 days before the first day of classes, you will receive an email from [email protected] to verify your order and select whether you want to pick it up at a Wake Tech Bookstore or have it shipped to you. You must make a selection to get your textbooks and access codes. You also can see what other items are recommended for your courses, and you can buy them at that time if you want.
  4. Get your books.
    An email notification will be sent when your order is ready for pick-up or when it ships. Digital books will be delivered for your courses within Blackboard unless a physical access code is needed.

Students can opt out of the program and purchase books independently if they wish, and anyone who has opted out can opt back in later. The opt-out window for the Summer 2024 term is May 3 through June 5.

At the end of the semester, you will receive an email with instructions on how to return your textbooks to a Wake Tech Bookstore. The email will also include information on how to buy any of the books at a discounted rate if you want to purchase them instead of returning them.

Frequently asked questions

Eagle Advantage is a program designed to lower the cost of course materials for students and ensure they have access to all of their required textbooks and digital books by the first day of class. Students are charged a $27-per-credit-hour textbook-access fee for books, which is added to their tuition.

Textbooks are conveniently packaged and provided to students on a rental basis, and digital books are delivered directly through Blackboard. At the end of the semester, students will receive email reminders to return their books to a Wake Tech Bookstore.


Eagle Advantage provides all required textbooks, lab manuals, access codes and digital textbook versions to students participating in the program.


Recommended textbooks, consumable items that cannot be returned and reused – lab goggles, dissection kits, nursing kits, etc. – and course kits are not included in Eagle Advantage and are the responsibility of the student if they wish to purchase them.


All students in degree programs, including dual-enrollment students in the Career & College Promise program, are automatically enrolled in Eagle Advantage when they register for classes.

One month before classes start, you will receive an email instructing you to choose whether you want to pick your books up at a Wake Tech Bookstore or have them shipped to you. You will get another email when your order is ready for pickup or has shipped. Digital books will be delivered within Blackboard.

Non-degree students and students attending any of Wake County's four Cooperative Innovative High Schools are not eligible for Eagle Advantage.


Students are able to opt out of the program each semester if they choose not to participate, as long as the opt-out occurs during the window for that semester. Any student who has previously opted out can opt back into the program, as long as that occurs on or before the last day of that same window.

For the Summer 2024 term, the opt-out window is May 3 through June 5.


There may be a situation where the Textbook Access Fee for Eagle Advantage exceeds the retail amount for your books or does not benefit you in a given semester. For example, maybe one or more of your courses is utilizing no-cost materials or no materials at all. In this case, it might be a good idea to opt out for that semester.

We encourage you to visit the Barnes & Noble College Bookstore website to search for and review the costs of your required materials as compared to the Textbook Access Fee that you are charged before making your opt-out decision. Remember to do your research every semester!

You must click on the link in the email that is sent from the bookstore or on the "Verify Materials and Select Delivery Method” button on this page. Log in and view each course and select a delivery method – pick-up or delivery – for any physical textbooks or access codes. If the item is digital-only, it will say "Digital material – no action needed" for that course. If all your textbooks are going to be available in Blackboard, the submit button will be grayed out.


Students will receive emails from [email protected] to remind them to verify their Eagle Advantage orders. If a student does not opt out, physical textbooks and access codes will be held at the bookstore until he or she verifies the order. Digital books will be accessible within Blackboard if no physical code is required.


If you have already received your materials and you drop a class, you may simply return any books for that course to the bookstore within 48 hours.

If you drop a class and add a different class, you should receive another email within 48 hours asking you to verify the changes so you can get the required materials for your current schedule.


The deadline to return all rental textbooks is the last day of finals for the semester. Students will receive email reminders ahead of that deadline.


Unless you buy it, you are required to return any textbook for a continuing course. You will then be issued the same title for the next semester.


Yes, you have the option to purchase textbooks at a reduced rate during the return period at the end of the semester. Students will receive email reminders ahead of that deadline explaining how to return their books, and the email will include information on purchasing books at a discounted rate.
